The Weepies

World Spins Madly On

by The Weepies
The Weepies

Biography:

The Weepies is an American indie pop-folk duo of married singer-songwriters Deb Talan and Steve Tannen. The duo began making music together in Cambridge, Massachusetts, in 2001.

In 2006, The Weepies big label debut Say I Am You came out on Nettwerk Records. After an initial hard-scrabble tour in their compact car as a duo, Deb Talan & Steve Tannen’s music appeared in more than a dozen TV shows, as well as several major motion pictures.

Their iTunes sales topped the folk charts in eight countries.

This is my first tab, it's an easy version and it isn't exactly how they play it
but it's how I play it, and it sounds nice when you sing along. Also, I think they
start with a chorus but I'll be calling it Verse 1...

Standard Tuning
Capo 3rd Fret

CHORDS:
G - 320033
D - 200232 *I don't know what to call this (maybe F#/D?)
Cadd9 - 032033
Em7- 022033
A - 002220

STRUM PATTERN (I made this up, so feel free to play however way you want):
DDU U DU, play this twice for each chord except for when you play 'where you'd
gone' and 'world spins madly on' there you play it once as well as the outro, and
at the bridge strum the chords with an asterisk by it only once.

[Intro]

G-D-Cadd9-D (2x)

[Verse 1]

G D
Woke up and wished that I was dead
Cadd9
With an aching in my head
D
I lay motionless in bed
Cadd9 G-D
I thought of you, and where you'd gone
Em7 D G
And let the world spin madly on

[Break]

G-D-Cadd9-D (1x)

[Verse 2]

G D
And everything that I said I'd do
Em7
Like make the world brand new
D
And take the time for you
Cadd9 G-D
Just got lost and slept right through the dawn
Em7 D G
And the world spins madly on

[Break]

G-D-Cadd9-D

[Bridge]

Cadd9 G
I~ let the day go by
Cadd9 G
I~ always say goodbye
Cadd9* A*
I watch the stars from my windowsill
Cadd9* D*
The whole world is moving, but I'm standing still.

[Break]

G-D-Em7-D (2x)

[Verse 3]

G D
Woke up and wished that I was dead
Em7
With an aching in my head
D
I lay motionless in bed
Cadd9 G-D
The night is here and the day is gone
Em7 D G D
And the world spins madly on

[Outro]

Cadd9 G-D
I thought of you and where you'd gone
Em7 D G
And the world spins madly on
Em7 D G
And the world spins madly on
Em7 D G D Cadd9 D G*
And the world spins madly on, and on~, and on~
