The Weepies

Crooked Smile

by The Weepies
The Weepies

Biography:

The Weepies is an American indie pop-folk duo of married singer-songwriters Deb Talan and Steve Tannen. The duo began making music together in Cambridge, Massachusetts, in 2001.

In 2006, The Weepies big label debut Say I Am You came out on Nettwerk Records. After an initial hard-scrabble tour in their compact car as a duo, Deb Talan & Steve Tannen’s music appeared in more than a dozen TV shows, as well as several major motion pictures.

Their iTunes sales topped the folk charts in eight countries.

This is my interpretation of the chords of this beautiful Weepies song. I tried to make it as clear as
possible. To get a better feel for the strumming and so on, you can check out this video of me playing the
song (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T4iQ5fpVF3I). If there are things that are unclear or you have any
questions, please leave a comment or send me a message.

Tuning: Standard (EADGBE)
Capo on 6. All chords are relative to capo.

Strumming patterns: (1) dd/ux (2) dddd (3) d(x)

- There are 3 strumming patterns in the song. On the first down strum in each pattern you only strum the bass
note. On all subsequent strums you strum the 4 top strings.

- The entire song uses pattern (1), unless otherwise stated. The x in this pattern means you don't really
strum, but mute all strings with the palm of your strumming hand.

- Pattern (2) consists of 4 downstrums. The first 3 strums are Gsus4, the 4th strum is G.

- Pattern (3) is simply strumming a chord once and muting it immediately after.
