Ernest Tubb

Thanks A Lot

by Ernest Tubb
Ernest Tubb

Biography:

Ernest Dale Tubb (February 9, 1914 – September 6, 1984), nicknamed the Texas Troubadour, was an American singer and songwriter and one of the pioneers of country music. His biggest career hit song, "Walking the Floor Over You" (1941), marked the rise of the honky tonk style of music. In 1948, he was the first singer to record a hit version of "Blue Christmas", a song more commonly associated with Elvis Presley and his mid-1950s version. Another well-known Tubb hit was "Waltz Across Texas" (1965)

THANKS A LOT - Ernest Tubb
Written by Eddie Miller and Don Sessions

CHORUS
[G] Thanks, thanks A [Em] lot
I got a broken [G] heart that's all I [Em] got
You made me [G] cry and I cried a [C] lot
I lost your [G] love, [D] baby, thanks a [G] lot

You told our [G] friends I was passing [Em] by
That you're not [G] sorry that you made me [Em] cry
You said I [G] deserved just what I [C] got
Well, if that's how you [G] feel, [D] honey, thanks a [G] lot

CHORUS
[G] Thanks, thanks A [Em] lot
I got a broken [G] heart that's all I [Em] got
You made me [G] cry and I cried a [C] lot
I lost your [G] love, [D] baby, thanks a [G] lot

Oh, Leon

INSTRUMENTAL BREAK
[G] [Em]
[G] [Em]
[G] [C]
[G] [D] [G]

You wanted a [G] fool, and I played the [Em] part
Now all I've [G] got is a broken [Em] heart
We loved a [G] little and laughed a [C] lot
Then you were [G] gone, [D] honey, thanks a [G] lot.

CHORUS
[G] Thanks, thanks A [Em] lot
I got a broken [G] heart that's all I [Em] got
You made me [G] cry and I cried a [C] lot
I lost your [G] love, [D] honey, thanks a [G] lot
