Ernest Tubb

Fortune In Memories

by Ernest Tubb
Ernest Tubb

Biography:

Ernest Dale Tubb (February 9, 1914 – September 6, 1984), nicknamed the Texas Troubadour, was an American singer and songwriter and one of the pioneers of country music. His biggest career hit song, "Walking the Floor Over You" (1941), marked the rise of the honky tonk style of music. In 1948, he was the first singer to record a hit version of "Blue Christmas", a song more commonly associated with Elvis Presley and his mid-1950s version. Another well-known Tubb hit was "Waltz Across Texas" (1965)

G
I've got fortunes in memories

D7
Of your walk your talk your smile

I've got treasures of heartaches

G
And old dreams out of style

I've got bundles of broken vows

C
Collected through the years

D7
I've got fortunes in memories

G
And they all were bought with tears

All my life I've been in love

C
With you and now you're gone

D7
All I own is memories

G
Of you that linger on

In some ways you left me nothing

C
But the losers share

D7
In some ways I guess I am

G
A sort of millionaire

G
I've got fortunes in memories

D7
Of your walk your talk your smile

I've got treasures of heartaches

G
And old dreams out of style

I've got bundles of broken vows

C
Collected through the years

D7
I've got fortunes in memories

G
And they all were bought with tears

Take the pretty little lies

C
You told me one by one

D7
Take the careless cruel things

G
The sweet things you have done

Count them all as lost and

C
They are more than I can bare

D7
Count them all as memories

G
And I am a millionaire

G
I've got fortunes in memories

D7
Of your walk your talk your smile

I've got treasures of heartaches

G
And old dreams out of style

I've got bundles of broken vows

C
Collected through the years

D7
I've got fortunes in memories

G
And they all were bought with tears
