Tap At My Window

by Laura Marling
Laura Marling

Biography:

Laura Marling (born 1st February 1990) is a folk singer/songwriter/guitarist from Eversley, United Kingdom.

She began playing the guitar at the age of five, first being taught the blues by her father in front of the family fire, and has been enthralled by the songs and lyrics of the likes of Neil Young, Bob Dylan, James Taylor and John Mayall ever since. It’s not just the “golden-oldies” that Laura admires; she also harbours a rather deep love for alt.

A Gbm
He taps at my window
G Bm
Willing that I'll let him in
A Gbm
I don't think I will though
G
My heart's taken I won't tell him
Bm
again.

D7 D6
Maybe I'll write him a story and
D7 D
maybe I'll fall asleep in his arms
D7 D6
Maybe I'll wake up lonely and
D7
fallen away again

Am G D
Until you calm me down
Am G D
I'll race around this town

Am F
Trying to find
Am F
Oh an emotion you cannot deny
E
I will not have him treat me this way

A Gbm
And Mother I blame you with every
G Bm
inch of the being you gave
A Gbm G
For I have become you and I know
Bm
every part of your game
A Gbm
And Father I love you but how can
G Bm
you watch as I push her away
A Gbm G
I cannot forgive you for bringing
Bm
me up this way

D7 D6
Maybe I'll write them a story and
D7 D
maybe I'll fall asleep in his arms
D7 D6
Maybe I'll wake up lonely and
D7
fallen away again

Am G D
Until you calm me down
Am G D
I'll race around this town
Am G D
Until you calm me down
Am G D
I'll race around this town

Am F
Trying to find
Am F
Oh an emotion you cannot deny
E
I will not have them treat me this way

So tap at my window
Maybe I might let you in
I don't think I will though
My heart's taken I won't tell you again
