Rab Noakes - Turn A Deaf Ear

[INTRO:] G C G C G C G C

[VERSE 1:]
D C G
The stage director stood up and he called the actors down
D C C/D# G
He asked them all to say three words, 'Up', 'Down' and 'Around'
D C G
'Up', 'Down' and 'Around' they cried with one according voice
D C C/D# G
And up, down and around they went, for it seemed their only choice

[CHORUS:]
Am D G
I can only turn again, to the front again
Am D G
Only to turn again, to the rear
Am D G
Turn again, turn again, turn, turn, turn, again
Am D G
I can listen, but I can't hear

[VERSE 2:]
D C G
The cat-burglar was well disguised with a beard and cloak of red
D C C/D# G
He had old plimsolls on his feet, his hands above his head
D C G
He pleaded that he only robbed to give unto the poor
D C C/D# G
But though he was paid unto his words as they doubled out the door

[CHORUS:]
Am D G
I can only turn again, to the front again
Am D G
Only to turn again, to the rear
Am D G
Turn again, turn again, turn, turn, turn, again
Am D G
I can listen, but I can't hear

[INTERLUDE:] G C G C G C

[VERSE 3:]
D C G
I remember how the man stood on his little wooden stand
D C C/D# G
And he spoke very quietly with a waving of his hand
D C G
"Every pigeon to its own hole", was what he seemed to say
D C C/D# G
And that nobody should go looking for a better place to stay

[CHORUS:]
Am D G
I can only turn again, to the front again
Am D G
Only to turn again, to the rear
Am D G
Turn again, turn again, turn, turn, turn, again
Am D G
I can listen, but I can't hear

[CHORUS:]
Am D G
I can only turn again, to the front again
Am D G
Only to turn again, to the rear
Am D G
Turn again, turn again, turn, turn, turn, again
Am D G
I can listen, but I can't hear

[OUTRO:] G C G C G
