Rab Noakes - Dishonest

[INTRO:] G D7 D G D7 D G

[VERSE 1:]

There's a woman I knew
D7
To have her own point of view
D G
She could have been someone someday
D7
She got a little bit of fame

A bit of a name
D G
Took on what the sycophants say

[VERSE 2:]
C
The world's turning fast
G
Nothing will last
Bm D
It was all going on in her head
Em
Giving credit that's due
Am
Is something she couldn't do
D G
"'Cause that would be dishonest", she said

[INTERLUDE:] G D7 D G

[VERSE 3:]

She was creative in part
D7
But she wasn't that smart
D G
The way she thought she made her own tools

She would not see it then
D7
How she hid behind men
D G
All of the guidance of fools

[VERSE 4:]
C
She lived in a dream
G
A hell littered scheme
Bm D
Trying to make silver from lead
Em
She thought she could wait
Am
And not make everything late
D G
"I can't be dishonest", she said

[INSTRUMENTAL:] G D7 D G D7 D G
C G Bm D Em Am D G

[VERSE 5:]

When she enters a room
D7
She spreads her own sense of gloom
D G
Though she says it's someone else's pain

With her heart on her sleeve
D7
She'll have you believe
D G
The way she says it again and again

[VERSE 6:]
C
She's well past her youth
G
She can't face up to the truth
Bm D
She won't even see it is dead
Em
She does the trip by herself
Am
No help from anyone else
D G
"That would be dishonest", she said

[OUTRO:]
D7
Ooh ooh ooh ooooh ooooh
D G
Ooh ooh ooh ooooh ooooh
D7
Ooh ooh ooh ooooh ooooh
D G
"That would be dishonest", she said
