Rab Noakes - Darling Be Home Soon

[INTRO:] G C/G G C/G G

[VERSE 1:]
C/G G
Come - and talk of all the things we did today
C/G G
Here - and laugh about our funny little ways
C/G Am G
While we have a few minutes to breathe
C/G Am G
And I know that it's time you must leave

[CHORUS:]
Cmaj7 C/G
My darling be home soon
G
I couldn't bear to wait an extra minute if you dawdled
Cmaj7 C/G
My darling be home soon
G
It's not just these two hours that I've been waiting since I toddled
C/G Am D7 G
Or the great relief of having you to talk to

[VERSE 2:]
G C/G G
And now - a quarter of my life is almost past
C/G G
I think I've come to see myself at last
C/G Am G
And I see that the time spent confused
C/G Am G
Was the time that I spent without you
C/G Am D
And I feel myself in bloom

[CHORUS:]
Cmaj7 C/G
My darling be home soon
G
I couldn't bear to wait an extra minute if you dawdled
Cmaj7 C/G
My darling be home soon
G
It's not just these two hours that I've been waiting since I toddled
C/G Am D7 G
Or the great relief of having you to talk to

[INSTRUMENTAL:] G C/G G C/G G

[VERSE 3:]
C/G G
So go - and beat your crazy head against the sky
C/G G
Try - to see beyond the houses and your eyes
C/G Am D
It's okay to shoot the moon

[CHORUS:]
Cmaj7 C/G
My darling be home soon
G
I couldn't bear to wait an extra minute if you dawdled
Cmaj7 C/G
My darling be home soon
G
It's not just these two hours that I've been waiting since I toddled
C/G Am D7 G
Or the great relief of having you to talk to
