This is a very simplified version of the song. The little riff she does after the C at the end of each
verse going into the Am is as follows:

E|-----------------|
B|-----------------|
G|-----------------|
D|-----------------|
A|-3-2-0-----------|
E|-----------------|

G/F#: 220033

[Verse]

G Em
If these bare walls could sing

C G
They would sing us a funeral song

Em C
Push their wooden words into your mouth

G Em
They would not wish to be

C G
A burden to your tongue

G Em
Would not wish to carry on

C
Too long

[Chorus]

Am Em
With no sorrow

G G/F# Em
Ask no greater pardon

Am
Than the pattern

Em C
Time is carving in your skin

[Verse]

G Em
If these pale bones could sway

C G
They would march to a funeral song

Em C
And pull their milky way across the yard

G Em
They would not wish to keep

C G
You tethered to their arms

G Em C
They would not wish to carry on too far

[Chorus]

Am Em
With no sorrow

G G/F# Em
Ask no greater pardon

Am
Than the pattern

Em C
Time is carving in your skin

[Break]

G, Em, C (2x)

[Verse]

G Em
Well if I could stretch my ears

C G
Into a grand procession

G Em
And circle ‘round your wisdom

C
Like a song

G Em
I would not wish to be

C G
The fire in your belly

G
I would not wish for

Em C
Holding you too long

[Chorus]

Am Em
With no sorrow

G G/F# Em
Ask no greater pardon

Am
Than the pattern

Em C
Time is carving in your skin

[Outro}

C until the song fades out
