Jason Eady

This Old Guitar And My

by Jason Eady
Jason Eady

Biography:

Jason Eady (born 23 January 1975 in Jackson, Mississippi) is an American country music singer and guitarist. He is regarded as an important figure in the subgenre of Texas country music, a form of "classic country" bent upon returning the music to its historic singer-songwriter roots.

On his third and latest album, When the Money’s All Gone, Eady delivers southern gospel stomps, New Orleans soul, and the heartbreaking tide of sin and redemption through his rich baritone voice and a raucous band.

Intro: C, C7, F, F, G, G, C

Verse 1:
C
Well I just turned thirty – five
G
But it feels a whole lot like twenty – three
G
I'm still waitn' on growin' up
C
Maybe then I'll figure out what I'll be

And I've tried the nine to five before
G
But me and that suit and tie did not agree
G
So it's back to jeans and worn out shirts
C C7
And nothin' but this old guitar and me

Chorus:
F
My car is barely runnin'
C
But I've run enough for both of us I guess
F
And my pockets are all empty
C
Knowing what I do is for the best

I gave up on settling down
F
Don't think God made the ground to fit my feet
G
So I'm writin' these words and singin' these songs
G
With nothin' but this old guitar and me

C, C7, F, F, G, G, C

Verse 2:
C
I've exceeded expectations
G
Spoke in wild exaggerations now and then
G
I've sank down to the bottom
G
Ain't it funny where you find your best friend

Now I'm somewhere in the middle
C
Where it only takes a little to be free
G
So I'm diggin' in and keeping time
C C7
With nothin' but this old guitar and me

Chorus:
F
My car is barely runnin'
C
But I've run enough for both of us I guess
F
And my pockets are all empty
C
Knowing what I do is for the best

I gave up on settling down
F
Don't think God made the ground to fit my feet
G
So I'm writin' these words and singin' these songs
G
With nothin' but this old guitar and me

Yeah I'm writin' these words

And singin' these songs
G]
With nothin' but this old guitar and me

C, C7, F, F, G, G, C
