Jason Eady

Longer Walk In The Rain

by Jason Eady
Jason Eady

Biography:

Jason Eady (born 23 January 1975 in Jackson, Mississippi) is an American country music singer and guitarist. He is regarded as an important figure in the subgenre of Texas country music, a form of "classic country" bent upon returning the music to its historic singer-songwriter roots.

On his third and latest album, When the Money’s All Gone, Eady delivers southern gospel stomps, New Orleans soul, and the heartbreaking tide of sin and redemption through his rich baritone voice and a raucous band.

[Intro]
D

[Verse 1]
D G D
Should go back before I go too far
A
But I know myself enough to know
D
That I'll probably stay right here
G D
While the storm clouds grow near
A D D/F#
And wait a little later than I should

[Chorus]
A D D/F#
And I'll think about you then
A D
While I stumble home again
G
And I'll have time to remember who's to blame
A D G
'Cause it's a longer walk in the rain
D A D
It's a longer walk in the rain

[Break]
D

[Verse 2]
D
Another night is done
G D
And you barely cross my mind
A
As I watch the clock tick from ten to two
D
Now the thunders rollin' in
G D
And I can feel it in the wind
A D D/F#
There's no way to stop this coming down

[Chorus]
A D D/F#
And I'll think about you then
A D
While I stumble home again
G
And I'll have time to remember who's to blame
A D G
'Cause it's a longer walk in the rain
D A D
It's a longer walk in the rain

[Verse 3]
G A
Well the porch light be left on
D
Will she just be gone
G A D
Lord I wonder if she wonders where I've been
Bm
I gotta stop this runnin' 'round
A
Before it's too late to settle down
G A D D/F#
But then I'll say the same thing again

[Chorus]
A D D/F#
And I'll think about you then
A D
While I stumble home again
G
And I'll have time to remember who's to blame
A D G
'Cause it's a longer walk in the rain
D A D
It's a longer walk in the rain

[Outro]
D
