Biografia:
Savatage é uma banda norte-americana de heavy metal fundada em Tampa, na Flórida, no final dos anos 70 com o nome de Avatar pelos irmãos Jon e Criss Oliva, do Metropolis. Em 1979, o baterista Steve Wacholz se junta à banda, e, após inúmeros baixista, o line-up estabiliza-se com Keith Collins. Após participar de algumas compliações, o Avatar lança de forma independente o EP City Beneath the Surface em 1982, mas abandona o nome para evitar futuros problemas legais.
