A História da Música vive, tanto ou mais ainda do que a História de todos nós, dos heróis não cantados, esquecidos e só recordados por quem tem a capacidade, o talento ou a sorte de os descobrir num monte poeirento de discos. Galt McDermot é um desses heróis, autor de músicas infames em alguns circulos, conotadas com o easy-listening ou o Blaxploitation. O que para os "académicos" é um defeito para outros é uma qualidade, essa falta de rigor que permitiu a fusão entre estilos.
