Biografia:
Maxwell nasceu no dia 23 de maio de 1973 , no Brooklyn em Nova Iorque, EUA.
Sofreu a perda de seu pai (em um acidente de avião) quando tinha apenas 3 anos. A experiência fez dele uma criança profundamente religiosa, ele começou a cantar em sua igreja Batista. Ainda assim, ele não levava a música a sério até seus17 anos, quando começou a escrever suas próprias músicas usando um teclado ''Casio'' usado, dado a ele por um amigo.
