Biografía:
Maxwell es un cantante de R&B y Soul norteamericano. Nació el 23 de mayo de 1973 en Brooklyn, Nueva York. Hijo de un padre puertorriqueño y de madre afroamericana.
La pérdida de su padre a los 4 años tuvo un gran impacto en su vida, y daría ciertas bases para su interés por la música. Maxwell, quien se volvió un muchacho con mucha fé, empezó a cantar en el coro de una iglesia bautista en Brooklyn. Luego comenzó a interesarse por el R&B y el Motown Soul, especialmente Marvin Gaye y Prince.
