Nascida em Bath, Bristol, no Reino Unido, Gabrielle Anne Aplin criou uma página no YouTube em fevereiro de 2008, postando alguns covers e recebendo muitos acessos. Assim então continua postando até hoje só que agora com algumas músicas feitas por si mesma. Suas principais influências são Bob Dylan, Lisa Mitchell, The Beatles, Kings of Leon, Nick Drake, Jamie Cullum, Laura Marling, John Mayer e Michael Jackson.
