The Coasters

Smokey Joes Cafe

by The Coasters
The Coasters

Just sittin', diggin' on the scene at Smokey Joe's Café.

A chick came walkin' through the door, that I'd never
F Bb F
seen before..at least I'd never saw her down at Smokey Joe's
C F
Café..and I started shakin' when she sat right now next

to me.

#2.
F Bb F
Her knees were almost touching mine at Smokey Joe's Café.
F Bb F
A chill was running down my spine at Smokey Joe's Café.
Bb
I could smell her sweet perfume..she smiled at me, my heart

went boom.
F Bb F
Then everybody in the room at Smokey Joe's Café..they said,
C Bb F Fm Ab
"Man be careful, that chick belongs to Smokey Joe."

#3.
F Bb F Bb
Then from behind the counter, I saw a man, a chef hat on his
F Bb
head and a knife in his hand.
Bb C Bb C
He grabbed me by my collar and began to shout, "You'd better

eat up all your beans, boy, and clear right on out!!"
F Bb F
I know I'll never eat again at Smokey Joe's Café and so we'll
Bb F
never meet again at Smokey Joe's Café.

#4.
Bb
I'd rather eat my chili beans at Jack's or John's or Jim's or
F Bb F
Jean's, than take my chances eating down at Smokey Joe's Café.
C Bb F
I risked my life when, that Smokey Joe, the crazy fool..
