Yael Naim nació en París, Francia, el 6 de Febrero de 1978, de padres judío franco-tunecinos. Se mudó con su familia a Ramat Hasharon, Israel, cuando tenía cuatro años. Su padre es un artista y su madre una cosmeticista. En Israel tenía dos hermanos, un Dj y otro trabajaba en contabilidad.
