Biografía:
Fitzsimmons nació el hijo menor de dos padres ciegos, y se crió en Pittsburgh, Pensilvania. Se dice que ha desarrollado sus múltiples habilidades instrumentales de su madre y su padre, ambos de los cuales eran músicos aficionados. La casa donde se crió incluso albergaba un órgano de tubos, construido según se dice a mano por su padre. Se le enseñó piano y trombón en la escuela elemental, y aprendió guitarra de forma autodidacta en el instituto.
