Biografía:
The Pointer Sisters, grupo de soul formado en 1971 en East Oakland por las hermanas Bonnie Pointer, June Pointer, Anita Pointer y Ruth Pointer. Desde jóvenes estuvieron influidas por el gospel y el soul de The Staple Singers, Aretha Franklin y The Andrews Sisters. En 1971 firmaron con Blue Thumb Records. Su primer single con cierto éxito fue "Yes we can can", una versión de un tema de Allen Toussaint en 1973. Dos años más tarde llegaron al número uno con el tema "How Long (Betcha' Got a Chick on the Side)".
