Biografía:
Formados en 1965 por Tony Brevett, Brent Dow y Trevor McNaughton en Greenwich Town, The melodians grabaron su debut con el legendario productor de Kingston Clement 'Coxsone' Dodd al año siguiente de su aparicion con el tema "lay it on".
Esta cancion fue increiblemente popular en jamaica y fue seguida de exitos como "Met Me", "I should have made it up" y "let's join hands (together)". Para elegir el material musical este grupo raramente se basaba en fuentes musicales de afuera de jamaica
