Formados en 1965 por Tony Brevett, Brent Dow y Trevor McNaughton en Greenwich Town, The melodians grabaron su debut con el legendario productor de Kingston Clement 'Coxsone' Dodd al año siguiente de su aparicion con el tema "lay it on".
