Era Plasmatics
The Plasmatics fueron fundados en 1978 por Rod Swenson, graduado por la Universidad de Yale, y artista contracultural ligado al Movimiento antiarte y por Wendy O' Williams, Stripper con escarceos en el mundo del Porno.
El grupo pronto se dio a conocer por sus desbocadas actuaciones en directo y su actitud iconoclasta, enfocada hacia la destrucción de los tabús de la cultura popular estadounidense, y por su sonido extremo, cercano en muchas ocasiones a lo que se conocería como Hardcore Punk.

The Plasmatics were a great band. They came out of the punl scene in New York.
They were one of the first to use a hybrid of punk and metal. Wendy got on
famously with Lemmy of Motorhead. They were the first artists released on
STIFF Records. Stiff's first release was a single, a duet of Lemmy and Wendy
doing Stand By Your Man. No Class and Masterplan were on the B side.
