Wrinkle Neck Mules

Parting Of The Clouds

by Wrinkle Neck Mules
Wrinkle Neck Mules

Biography:

What the hell is a Wrinkle Neck Mule? A sophomoric phallic reference? Too easy. A pack animal used in the Sierra Madre mountains of Mexico to transport opium to America in the early 1900s? History channel worthy, but wrong. A band of five (or four, depending on the wind) from Richmond, Virginia carrying indie-rockish country music about the land? Eureka. Daily double.

Born somewhere on I-64 between Charlottesville and Richmond, Virginia in late 1999

Parting of the Clouds - Wrinkle Neck Mules

Track 7 - Apprentice to Ghosts (2012)
--------------------------------------------
Standard Tuning; no capo

[Intro]
D A Bm G
D A G

[VERSE]
D A Bm G
In my line of sight, particles are swimming
D A G
I can reach up and touch outer space
D A Bm G
This hospital room is no good place to spend the night
D A G
But from myself in here I will be safe

D A G

[VERSE]
D A Bm G
Somewhere out on the river my hands start talking to me
D A G
The left in disagreement with the right
D A Bm G
Like Vincent Van Gogh, I cut myself in two
D A G
And I see no coming morning to this night
D A G G
And I see no coming morning to this night

[CHORUS]
G A G Bm G
It’s not the truth but it’s the answer I gave
A G Bm G
A forked tongue speaks every word I say
A G Bm G
Is this the point, where the whole thing comes unwound?
D A G
Stand by for the parting of the clouds
D A G
Stand by for the parting of the clouds

[VERSE]
D A Bm G
The back eddies swirl, hot like a temper
D A G
I catch them in the riffles and the runs
D A Bm G
Where this all got started, that much I don’t remember
D A G
But they tell me I’m not the only one
D A G
And they tell me I’m not the only one
D A G
Well they tell me I’m not the only one

[CHORUS]
G A G Bm G
It’s not the truth but it’s the answer I gave
A G Bm G
A forked tongue speaks every word I say
A G Bm G
Is this the point, where the whole thing comes unwound?
D A G
Stand by for the parting of the clouds
D A G G
Stand by for the parting of the clouds

[SOLO]
D A Bm G
D A G
D A Bm G
D A G
D A G

[VERSE]
Bm Em G D
There’s a light at the end of the tunnel
Bm Em G D
Strap me down and hit up with something good
Bm Em G D
There’s a storm brewing out on my equator
Bm Em G A
I think it’s time I throw myself before the judge

[CHORUS]
D A G Bm G
It’s not the truth but it’s the answer I gave
A G Bm G
I can make it thunder in the middle of a sunny day
A G Bm G
Is this the point, where the whole thing comes unwound?
D A G
Stand by for the parting of the clouds
D A G
Stand by for the parting of the clouds
D A G D
Stand by for the parting of the clouds
