Song: Last Day At Gettysburg
By: Larry Sparks
Genre: Bluegrass

Not in original Key, but this is how we play it.

[Verse 1]
Bm
The gray smoke from the battle
A7 Bm
rollin' over the hill.

The fires, the dead, the dying
A7 Bm
are in my memory ever still.

[Chorus]
A7
Oh, can't you hear,
G D
hear that angel band
A7
singing, "Come home, soldier,
G B
to the Promised Land."

[Verse 2]
Bm
Longstreet, he stole away and cried
A7 Bm
when Lee gave him his orders to attack.

In his mind's eyes he could see
A7 Bm
that most of his boys would not be back.

[Chorus]
A7
Oh, can't you hear,
G D
hear that angel band
A7
singing, "Come home, soldier,
G Bm
to the Promised Land."

[Verse 3]
Bm
Willy Johnson and me,
A7 Bm
Rebel soldiers both from Tennessee.

Willy, he's lyin' by my side -
A7 Bm
spoke these words to me, and then he died:

[Chorus]
A7
Oh, can't you hear,
G D
hear that angel band
A7
singing, "Come home, soldier,
G Bm
to the Promised Land."

[Solo]

[Fade out]
