Someone already figured out the chords to this, but it wasn't set to the lyrics, which is incredibly
frustrating. So I fixed that! Enjoy.

Intro:
| Am/C | x 4

| C#m E | A E | C#m E/B | A |

C#m E A E
There were letters unopened at the foot of my bed
A
When I woke up with you in the morn
There were lions roaring on ships in the harbour
C#m B A
The night my true love was born

C#m E A E
There's a minstrel singing of the holy dove
A
On the mountain of old St Jerome
There is glass on the floor of the hallway I walk
C#m B A
When the stars bear down from their throne
C#m B A
And the old southern cross is shown
C#m B A
And it points down the sad road home
C#m B E A
To the land of the bloody unknown

Mini-break:
| Am | Am |

| C#m E | A E | C#m E | A | A |

C#m E A E
I heard that your mother took off in the fall
E A
With her pretty curls and her wooden spoon
I heard you whispering to yourself last night
C#m B A
She'll be coming home some day soon
C#m E A
Well the wine you drink is stained deep in your shirt
E A
And just like the sin in my soul
It is never ever ever ever coming out
C#m B A
While the stars bear down from their throne
C#m B A
And the old southern cross is shown
C#m B A
And it points down the sad road home

C#m E A E
To the land of the hunter dancing under the trigger
A
And the bride washing up on the shore
I could never really dance that well
B
I can't raise the flags or ring them bells
A B C#m E A
But I can shoot my gun down the line towards my home
C#m B E A
To the land of the bloody unknown

Break:
| Am | Am |

| C#m E | A E | x 3

| C#m E | A | A | A |

C#m E A E
There's a black dog watching over me in my sleep
A
And I stir just to toss him the bone

There's a red moon rising on the hills tonight
C#m B A
Where the stars bear down from their throne
C#m B A
And the old southern cross is shown
C#m B A
And it points down the sad road home
