C F G Am
Well I’ve not been honest darling, no I’ve not been straight at all
C F G F
Well, I beg your pardon; the night we jumped McCormack’s Wall
C F G Am
I was so happy just to be with you, I would have said anything at all
C F
Now I could scream your name, till you do the same,
G F
But I know you won’t respond

(slow)
G F
Well, here we are. What’s there to do?
C F G Am
Dai dal dai, dai dal dai, del dai del dai del do
C F G F
Dai dal dai, dai dal dai, I’m gonna ride black river

C F G Am
With the lark in the morning and the dew upon the dawn
C F G F
Well, a-home we came a-crawling with our sickness and our song
C F G Am
For all guitar makers; for the prisoners and the law
C F G F
And to the fine wine drinkers who drank their bellies raw
C F G Am
And to all the good samaritans, whoever found us in the dark
C F G F
And to all who’ve been or come between the lovers in the park
C F G Am
And to all the Ó Díomasaigh singers with their roots in holy ground
C F G F
And forgiveness still lingers in the bells above the town

(slow)
G F
Well, here we are. What’s there to do?
C F G Am
Dai dal dai, dai dal dai, del dai del dai del do
C F G Am
Dai dal dai, dai dal dai, I’m gonna ride black river
C F G Am
Dai dal dai, dai dal dai, del dai del dai del do
C F G F
Dai dal dai, dai dal dai, I’m gonna ride black river

(pause)
C F
Well, this is a song of drinking,
G Am
And for a drink it will be sung,
C F
And I’ll sing it right, and I’ll say goodnight
G F
Unless they're serving another one
