Smoke

by Florida Georgia Line
Florida Georgia Line

Biography:

Florida Georgia Line is a duo comprised of members Tyler Hubbard (from Monroe, Georgia) and Brian Kelley (from Ormond Beach, Florida). Their sound combines electrifying, hard-driving rock with honest, expressive lyrics. The Cruise Songfacts explains that both Hubbard and Kelley began playing guitar individually while they were in high school before meeting at Nashville’s Belmont University. They began writing songs together between classes and soon found themselves playing local clubs, quickly building a fanbase.

Verse #1

Cadd9 G
Laying back against this windshield
Em7 D
Parked out in this Georgia red field
Cadd9 G Em7 D
This is where we burn our summer nights
Cadd9 G Em7 D
Long little lipstick kisses on the hood of our tacoma
Cadd9 G Em7 D
We were seventeen, going on free and wild
Cadd9 G Em7 D
She was smoking hot, a whiskey shot of jerry curl
Cadd9 G Em7 D
Sparks were flying every time I smelled smoke

Chorus:
Cadd9 G
I'm sitting by a bonfire watching her swaying
Em7 D
Me and my buddies and the guitar playing
Cadd9 G
Sipping on forties on a saturday night
Em7 D
Buzzing through a chorus of dixieland delight
Cadd9/G Em7 D Cadd9
High as the stars, in the milky way
G Em7
Those summer days drifting away,
D Cadd9/G Em7 D Cadd9 G Em7 D
she'll always float Back through my mind like smoke

Verse #2
Cadd9 G
July flames, october ashes
Em7 D
Summer skin and blue jean flashes
Cadd9 G Em7 D
Strike a match and light a memory
Cadd9 G Em7 D
Never said goodbye, we let it fly into thin air
Cadd9 G Em7 D
Tonight I'm a stone, all along going up so strong I swear

Chorus:

Cadd9 G
I'm sitting by a bonfire watching her swaying
Em7 D
Me and my buddies and the guitar playing
Cadd9 G
Sipping on forties on a saturday night
Em7 D
Buzzing through a chorus of dixieland delight
Cadd9/G Em7 D Cadd9
High as the stars, in the milky way
G Em7
Those summer days drifting away,
D Cadd9/G Em7 D Cadd9 G Em7 D
she'll always float Back through my mind like smoke
