People Are Different

by Florida Georgia Line
Florida Georgia Line

Biography:

Florida Georgia Line is a duo comprised of members Tyler Hubbard (from Monroe, Georgia) and Brian Kelley (from Ormond Beach, Florida). Their sound combines electrifying, hard-driving rock with honest, expressive lyrics. The Cruise Songfacts explains that both Hubbard and Kelley began playing guitar individually while they were in high school before meeting at Nashville’s Belmont University. They began writing songs together between classes and soon found themselves playing local clubs, quickly building a fanbase.

[Intro]
D G D G

[Verse 1]
D
White collar, blue collar, hillbilly, high dollar
G
Hot head, pot head, non-believer, holy water
D
Big city, small town, y'all take a look around
G
People are different
D
Heavy metal, hip hop, steel toe, flip flops
G
Sip it slow, cold beer, hits you fast, whiskey shot
D
Accent North, South, good as gold, sailor mouth
G
People are different

[Pre-Chorus 1]
D
Yeah, we all know it's true
G
But it don't mean that me and you

[Chorus]
D
Can't walk down a street and smile at a stranger
G
Heart on your sleeve and love thy neighbor
D
No matter what shape, no matter what color
G
Break bread instead of fighting each other
D
Slip on a pair of another man's shoes
G
You'll see by the time you get back
D
This old world would be a whole lot better place
G
If we'd all just embrace the fact
D
That people are different
G
People are different

[Verse 2]
D
Left wing, right wing, jail house, freedom ring
G
Old school, new school, everything in-between
D
Like a snowflake, no fingerprint's the same
G
And people are different

[Pre-Chorus 2]
D
I wish that it was something that we all understood
G
Lord knows it'd do us all some good

[Chorus]
D
To walk down a street and smile at a stranger
G
Heart on your sleeve and love thy neighbor
D
No matter what shape, no matter what color
G
Break bread instead of fighting each other
D
Slip on a pair of another man's shoes
G
You'll see by the time you get back
D
This old world would be a whole lot better place
G
If we'd all just embrace the fact
D
That people are different
G
Yeah, people are different

[Bridge]
Bm A
You can turn on the TV
G D
Change the channel if you don't like what you see
Bm A
You can get your money back if it ain't your size
G D
You can throw it in the trash if you don't like it
G
But listen, people are different

[Chorus]
D
So walk down the street and smile at a stranger
G
Heart on your sleeve and love thy neighbor
D
No matter what shape, no matter what color
G
Break bread instead of fighting each other
D
Slip on a pair of another man's shoes
G
You'll see by the time you get back
Bm A
This old world would be a whole lot better place
G
If we'd all just embrace the fact
D
That people are different
G
People are different
D
People are different
G
Whoa, yeah
