Five Iron Frenzy

Cool Enough For You

by Five Iron Frenzy
Five Iron Frenzy

Biography:

Five Iron Frenzy (also known as Five Iron or FIF) is a Christian ska band formed in Denver, Colorado in 1995 and disbanded in 2003. In 2011, the band reunited and in 2013, they released the album Engine of a Million Plots. Their signature sound is a mix of rock and ska while their lyrics mix socially-conscious satire and their Christian faith.

Five Iron Frenzy started as a local side-project of Reese, Keith, Micah, and Scott's band Exhumator. Although the original intent was for the band to stay local and help support the local music scene

Four years of hard work!

This month of May we celebrated four years on the air. We continue working on the dissemination of this wonderful instrument, thank you for participating in our story!

Hey, guys! I do not do this often, but this is NOT MY TAB. I found this online [since I myself am trying to
learn this awesome song still], but this was too awesome to not post on a well-known website. The original
author did not give an user name or any other contact information, so credit goes to him [it could've been
Sonnie for all I know, haha]. Anyways, enjoy this chord sheet! :D

However, Sonnie plays inverted chords in the song, so here they are [I posted these in]:

C#m A Ab B E F#

e|-4-| e|-5-| e|-4-| e|-7-| e|-4-| e|-2-|
B|-5-| B|-5-| B|-4-| B|-7-| B|-5-| B|-2-|
G|-6-| G|-6-| G|-5-| G|-8-| G|-4-| G|-3-|
D|-6-| D|-7-| D|-6-| D|-9-| D|---| D|-4-|

Intro1: C#m A Ab C#m (3x, trumpet riff, 3x)

Intro2: (traditional ska rhythm)
C#m E B Ab
C#m A Ab

Verse:
C#m E
What could this be, too much MTV?
B Ab
Chalk another fad up for its fall into infamy.
C#m A
What's in a standard if it changes all the time?
Ab
You're still having trouble in defining your own kind.
C#m E
Need I remind you, we all knew you before,
B Ab
You threw rocks at the stage from your glass house on the floor.
C#m A
Now you think you're punk, just because it's in.
Ab
You found a foul mouth and a couple safety pins.

Chorus:
E B F# A Ab
Got a peaceful feeling. I don't want to fight no more.
E B F# A Ab
Got a peaceful feeling. I don't care if we're punk or SKA or hardcore.
E B
Enough for you, sad but true,
F# A Ab
you can call us names till your face turns blue.
E B
Our assurance comes from God, it's nothing new,
F# A Ab
we'll never care 'cause we're never cool enough for you.

Intro2

Verse:
That smug look on your face, your nose up in the air,
your patches say you're open-minded but still you couldn't bear,
some punk thrown in with ska. You said it wouldn't work.
Well you can take your Vespa home 'cause ska made you a jerk.
The purist turns a deaf ear. He's such an intellect,
Does he think his censorship is gaining our respect?
The raising of a fist, like the trigger of a gun.
Stop and see we're all alike, and we can dance as one.

Chorus

Bridge: (From here on out use power chords.)
A--4-4---4--------| (1x)
E----------5-4---5|

A--4-4--4---------| (15x)
E----------4---5--|

Chorus2:(w/distortion)
B F# A E
B F# A E

B F# A E
Got a peaceful feeling. I don't want to fight no more.
B F# A E
Got a peaceful feeling. I don't care if we're punk or ska or hardcore.

Outro:(lalala)
B F# A E (4x)

End on B
(not counting the crazy sliding insanity chords at the VERY end)

Also, in case you are new to ska and are not sure how to skank [like I was before I got used to it], use
a muted downstroke and played upstroke strum.

-Romans 10:9-10;13
God bless!
