Off The Map - Alkaline Trio - This Addiction
Standard Tuning (EADGBe)
Arranged/Tabbed By Jack Cookson (Torn Asunder)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
This is an acoustic arrangement of Alkaline Trio's new song 'Off The Map'.
Due to a leak, the new album 'This Addiction' got put onto YouTube and I
just loved this song out of all of them. I do feel guilty listening to it
before the release date but I am still buying it when it comes out.
I think this is one of Dan Andriano's best so far and I hope you enjoy
playing it. You'll have to find a way to listen to the song (or just wait
till it's out) to get the rhythm right, it's pretty straight forward
though. I worked this all out by ear, so no primary sources or copying.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
*IMPORTANT*
The chords used in this song are shown below,
as I think the highlight chord diagrams are incorrect a lot of the time.
I've put in a few variations of each chord too, including power chords for
you acoustic rockers out there, and open string chords which sound
very pretty, kind of like a 12 string.

Mute/Don't play the strings marked with an 'x'

Normal Chords | Open String Chords | Power Chords

E (022100) > Emodal (079900) > E5 (022xxx)
A (x02220) > Asus2 (x02200) > A5 (x022xx)
B (x24442) > Bsus4 (x24400) > B5 (x244xx)
C#m (x46654) > C#m7 (x46600) > C#5 (x466xx)
G#m (466444) > E5/G# (4x2400) > G#5 (466xxx)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
*ALSO IMPORTANT*
This song has two guitars in the interlude parts, rhythm, playing power
chords, and lead, playing octave chords. I've arranged it so you can play it
on one guitar, though some bits may be a bit of a stretch. I've put in
the power chords the rhythm guitar plays above the tab, so if you find
the tab too stretchy then you can just miss it out and play the chords above.

This can also work as an intro if you're doing an acoustic cover of it,
so you don't have to do that weird harmonic bit at the start.

Verse 1:
E A
I needed more wine, you needed more sleep
C#m G#m
We just fought two hours and seven minutes

Honestly, I'm surprised we made it

I retired to my chair,
A
I grabbed my new guitar,
C#m G#m
But I can't make a sound
A B A
You could hear poisonous pins dropping all around like rain

Pre-chorus:
B
But I can ride the storm out,
G# A B A B
Because I'm like a junkie for your smart mouth

Chorus:
E A B
See, I'm so far off the map, the sun is shining
E A B
While it's raining and I'm draped in silver lining
C#m A B E B A
And I can row, row, row my boat back to shore someday
B
So are you coming with me?
E
Anchors away

I loosen my lips and the truth slips out,
C#m G#m
A free ride on a forked tongue,
A B
This twine of trust is unspun

Verse 4:
E A
I can start to believe that's what you need from me
C#m G#m
So far from what I want for you,
A B
But I'll lock it down and we'll make do

Pre-chorus:
A B G#m
You're right, there's only one real option
A B A B
And I'm here now, so help me keep my voice down

Chorus:
E A B
See, I'm so far off the map, the sun is shining
E A B
While it's raining and I'm draped in silver lining
C#m A B E B A
And I can row, row, row my boat back to shore someday

So are you coming with me?

E A B
Yeah, I'm so far off the map, the sun is shining
E A B
While it's raining and I'm draped in silver lining
C#m A B E B A
And I can row, row, row my boat back to shore someday
B
So are you coming with me?
E
Anchors away
