A Moment Of Silence

Streetlight Manifesto

Biography:

Streetlight Manifesto is a third wave ska punk band from New Brunswick, New Jersey, under the creative leadership of singer/guitarist Tomas Kalnoky. Since forming in 2002, the band has released four full-length albums.

Several of Streetlight's members were already well known among the New Jersey ska community for their roles in past ska bands from that area, most notably Catch 22's Tomas Kalnoky, James Egan, Mike Soprano, and Josh Ansley, as well as One Cool Guy's Stuart Karmatz, Pete Sibilia, Dan Ross, and Chris Paszik.

Chorus

Dm A# F
A moment of silence please for those who never get the chance

Dm A# F
They show up to the party but they're never asked to dance

Dm A# F
The losers the liars the bastards the thieves

Dm A# A
The cynicists the pessimists and those that don't believe in nothing

Verse

Dm A# F Dm
I never met a loser that I didn't see eye-to-eye with I declare

A# F
I stare into your eyes

Dm A# F
But you look right past me into the air

Dm A# F
What's it like to stand in your shoes

Dm A# A
To have never felt the belt of somebody's abuse

Dm A# F
I take the bottle and I tip it for all my heroes that have passed

Dm A# F
Alas you have left us but your stories they will last

Dm A# F
Uninspired by the recruiting call

Dm
Independent we stand

Dm A# A
Independent we fall

Prechorus Verse

Dm A# F
So tell me how long do you think you can go before you lose it all

F
Before they call you bluff and watch you fall

Dm A#
I don't know but I'd like to think I had control

F F
At some point but I let it go and lost my soul

Dm A#
Sit tight but the revolution's years away

F F
I'm losing faith and I'm running low on things to say

Dm A#
So I guess I have no choice but to regurgitate

F F
The tired anthem of a loser and a hypocrite

Dm A# F F
Oh To have died that night I realized it wouldn't last

Dm A#
Our days were numbered and the reaper tipped the hourglass

F F
The final mayday of our sinking ship had come and passed

Dm A# F F
Oh To the west you don't know what it is you're running from

Dm A#
And everybody's laughing loud

F F
Last chance to make your mother and your father proud

Dm A# F Dm A# F Dm A# F Dm A# A
Oh oh-oh-oh oh-oh-oh-oh oh-oh-oh

Verse

Dm A# F
They said a pox upon your house upon your family

Dm A# F
And everyone you knew and everyone you'll ever meet

Dm A# F
I bet they think we wish we joined when we could

Dm A# A
But we do what we want we don't do what we should

Dm A# F
Now everybody's laughing 'cause they're thinking they're

in on something I don't get

Dm
Don't forget

A# F
I connect and I read every word you said

Dm A# F
Like a child who believes he was wronged

Dm A# A
If you hate me so much then stop singing my songs
