Sparks Fly

by Waxahatchee
Waxahatchee

Biography:

Waxahatchee is a solo project of American singer and guitarist Katie Crutchfield (born in 1989) of P.S. Eliot and Bad Banana.

Waxahatchee, named after Waxahatchee Creek in Alabama where Crutchfield grew up, began in 2010 during the breakup of P.S. Eliot. Crutchfield released her first music as Waxahatchee as a split cassette with Chris Clavin on Plan-It-X Records. Her bedroom-recorded debut album, American Weekend, was released on Don Giovanni Records in 2012.

Key: C

Tuning: Standard EADGBe

Chords used:
C - x32010
G - 320003
F - 133211

Intro: C G x2

Verse 1:
C G
I take it back
I was never alone
C G
My censored thoughts
mild and monotone
C G
I took a train
to Berlin today
C
When I called
G
last night you
felt so far away

Refrain:
F G
Tonight I'll laugh
I say whatever I
F
want Stay in the
G
bar until the sun
F
comes up And I see
G
myself through my
sister's eyes
F G
I'm a live wire
electrified

Chorus 1:
C G
Sparks fly
C G
sparks fly

Verse 2:
C G
Death grip on some
feigned humility
C G
Effort executed
C
beautifully My
pride clenched
G
tight in my shaky
C
hand Til I let go
G
and buried my head
in the sand

Refrain 2:
F G
Or I'll go back south
I'll leave it all
F
behind See myself
G
clearly for the
F
first time Since
G
I met you on a
F
foggy night A
G
disaster dignified

(Repeat Chorus 1)

Verse 3:
C G
We sat in the hot
summer twilight
C G
Radio loud and
the brim bite
C G
The Coosa water
is choppy and wild
C G
I jumped abruptly
unreconciled

Refrain 3:
F G
Float on my back
watch the purple
F
sky In the last
G
moments of sunlight
F G
I know you don't
recognize me
F
But I'm a live
G
wire finally

Chorus 2:
C G
Sparks fly
C
sparks fly
G
Sparks fly
C
sparks fly
G
Sparks fly
C
sparks fly
G
Sparks fly
C(hold)
sparks fly
