Turnpike Troubadours

The Hard Way

by Turnpike Troubadours
Turnpike Troubadours

Biography:

Turnpike Troubadours is an American country music group from Oklahoma founded in 2005.

The band, whose name is derived from the bumpy Oklahoma toll-roads and their hard lived folk singing heroes, are proof that isolation can be the mother of originality. Cutting their teeth in roadside dance halls and honky-tonks has made a serious impact on the band’s musical style, which walks the line between Woody Guthrie and Waylon Jennings. “Bossier City,” the band’s debut album, is testament to the small towns in which they were raised.

Well I just hit town

In a cabin on a rural route

How fast I can wear my welcome out

Lord I miss this place

Out at Diamond Head

I was almost there

Silver medal for the loser

Silver medal for the loser

[Chorus]

On the road again, off of Highway 10
G D
In a cabin on a rural route

Now I'm headed out

With the same unrest

Used to feel like home

It was rolling in the clover now
G D C
Twenty seven warmed over now
G D C
Twenty seven warmed over

On the road again, off of Highway 10

In a cabin on a rural route

I'm gonna figure out the hard way

I'm gonna figure out the hard way
