Roo Panes

Land Of The Living

by Roo Panes
Roo Panes

Biography:

Roo Panes is English singer-songwriter Andrew Panes from Wimborne, Dorset, United Kingdom.

Panes, who plays mandolin and guitar, is accompanied by Georgie Harris (Viola), Joanne Sy (Cello), Sean Hatton (Drums) and Deborah Panes (Vocals).

Panes is a British songwriter with a guitar to his chest and a heart swelling with hopes and dreams. A common on-paper pitch, perhaps, and one sold a thousand times before. But Dorset-born Panes has something special to offer those willing to wait a while for their favourite songs to settle into place.

Land of the Living - Roo Panes

He plays the verses of this song picking the B and A strings followed by the G
string (pun not intended), simultaneously playing the riff with his pinky. He
strums for the pre-chorus and chorus. Brilliant song - love it!

Capo 5
Standard Tuning

[Intro]
C

[Verse 1]
C
Where they go
That we shall cherish and that I wrestle
Don't want to be like the dust that settles

[Verse 2]
This empire of nothing
I find that I'm king of all these empty homes
That are ruled by my own flaws

[Pre-Chorus]
C
But you can't be an old fire
F C G
If you are burning with a new flame
Am C F C G
So remember that, you are never a forgotten name

[Chorus]
Am F C
Cause I know a land called the land of the living
Am F C
It's the world beyond those curtains where we learned to play
Am F C Am
I hear the voices of my childhood singing it's the world beyond those doorways
F C
Where we used, to play

[Verse 3]
Cause every moment
Is a chance to define what you want to become
You're not a slave to things you've done

[Verse 4]
Be brave and be bold,
Be childish and old it's the same old story
Every life needs a hope of glory.

[Verse 5]
But you can't be an old fire
If your burning with a new flame
So remember that, you are never a forgotten name.

[Chorus]
Am F C
Cause I know a land called the land of the living
Am F C
It's the world beyond those curtains where we learned to play
Am F C Am
I hear the voices of my childhood singing it's the world beyond those doorways
F C
Where we used, to play

[Bridge]
C F
I was born to be free, you were born to free me,
C F
I was born to be free, you were born to free me
C F
I was born to be free, you were born to free me
C F
I was born to be free, you were born to free me.

[Chorus]
Am F C
Cause I know a land called the land of the living
Am F C
It's the world beyond those curtains where we learned to play
Am F C Am
I hear the voices of my childhood singing it's the world beyond those doorways
F C
Where we used, to play

[Chorus]
Am F C
Cause I know a land called the land of the living
Am F C
It's the world beyond those curtains where we learned to play
Am F C
Oh we'll go back, we'll go back to the beginning
Am F C
And well pick up on the trails of forgotten ways.

[Outro]
C
