Trader Horne

Growing Man

by Trader Horne
Trader Horne

Biography:

Trader Horne was a British folk duo formed in 1969 by the former Fairport Convention singer Judy Dyble and Jackie McAuley, who had been organist and guitarist with Them. The duo released one single, "Sheena", with a Judy Dyble song on the flipside, "Morning Way", which became the title track of their only album. Another single, "Here Comes The Rain" backed with "Goodbye Mercy Kelly" followed this album.

Shortly before a performance in May 1970, Dyble decided to leave the band.

This is a great song by Trader Horne and I had to transcribe it for you all I do not own
any writes to the song once again because of the obscurity of the music I typed the
lyrics myself and the chords too but I didn't write the song. I couldn't figure out the
intro bit, sorry guys but it's pretty much complete. I tried to line this up as best I could.

Em B Em B
Easy to you my traveller coming home to me
G D G D B
Oh I am a weary man yes I think it's me
Em B Em B
Paint for me a picture of the city in your way
G D C D Em
You will not see no colors but a million shades of grey
Em B Em B
Where did you go to what did you feel

G D Am C D B
I felt a city burn away the flames I did not see
Em B Em B
Did you make good friends in your city hold
G D C D Em
No money buys you friendship and so I lived alone

G D G D
Don't ask me why I'm happy don't tell me I look sad

G Bm Am C G
I can't help it I'm a growing man

Em B Em B
Did you meet a famous man or woman in the street
G D C D B
Oh once I saw a puppet man with people at his feet
Em B Em B
Tell me my traveller what words did he speak

G D C G Em
He spat them words like fire and told them they were free
Em B G Em B
What did you say or hear what did you see

G D C D A B
Someone sang a song and people laughed and I could not believe
Em B Em B
Tell me my traveller what did you learn
G D C D Em
That wisdom lies in truth itself and sorrow hides in scorn

G D G D
Don't ask me why I'm happy don't tell me I look sad

G Bm Em D C D
I can't help it I'm a growing man
G D G D
Don't ask me why I'm happy don't tell me I look sad

G B D C
I can't help it I'm a growing man

G D
doo doodoodoodoo (doo doo doo doo)
G D
doo doodoodoodoo (doo doo doo doo)
D C G
doo doodoodoo doodoodoodoo
