The War On Drugs

Biography:

The War on Drugs is an American indie rock band from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Band member Adam Granduciel (born Adam Granofsky in Dover, Massachusetts) moved from Oakland, California to Philadelphia in 2003, where he met Kurt Vile and began playing music with him. They began playing as The War on Drugs in 2005, and self-released a demo EP. While Vile and Granduciel formed the backbone of the band, they had a number of accompanists early in the group's career

[Intro]
G Fmaj7 C G Fmaj7

[Verse]
C
I was sailin' down here on the wind
G Fmaj7
When I met you and I fell away again
C
Like a train in reverse down a dark road
G
Carrying the whole load
Fmaj7
Just rattling the whole way home

[Chorus]
Em G
Have you fixed your eyes to the wind?
Am F
Will you let it pull you in a- gain
C G F
On the way back in?
Em G
I'm a bit run down here at the moment
Am F C G
Let me think about it, babe
F
Let me hold you

[Instrumental]
C G Fmaj7

[Verse]
C
There's a cold wind blowing down my old road
G
Down the backstreets where the pines grow
Fmaj7
As the river splits the undertows
Am
But I'd be lying to myself if I said I didn't mind
Leave it hanging on a line
G
Lost inside my head
Fmaj7
Is this the way I'll be denied again?

[Chorus]
Em G
So I'll set my eyes to the wind
Am F
But it won't be ea- sy
C G
To leave it all again
F Em G
Just bit run down here on the scene
Am F
There's just a stranger
C G F
Living in me

[Instrumental]
C G F x2

[Chorus]
Em G
As you set your eyes to the wind
Am F
And you see me pull away again
C G F
Haven't lost it on a friend
Em G
I'm just bit run down here at the moment
Am F
Yeah, I'm all alone here
C G F
Living in darkness, alright

[Outro]
C G F (x2)
C G Fmaj7 (x2)
