The Maccabees

Hello

by The Maccabees
The Maccabees

Biography:

(1) Formed in the fall of 1998, The Maccabees were comprised of ¾ of long-defunct Pohgoh. They released a 6 track EP "Songs from the Weakest Link" on New Granada records.

(2) The Maccabees (2002-2016) were an indie rock band from London, UK. The line-up consisted of Orlando Weeks (vocals), Hugo White (guitar), Felix White (guitar, vocals), Rupert Jarvis (bass) and Sam Doyle (drums), who replaced Robert Dylan Thomas. Weeks stated once that the band came up with the name by flicking through the Bible and picking out a random word.

Intro:
Em - G | D/F# - Em | Em – G – Em - G | D/F# - Em

Verse:
Em - G | D/F# - Em
Hello, it's me.
Em – G – Em - G | D/F# - Em
I was wondering if you'd like to meet,
Em - G | D/F# - Em
To go over, everything
Em – G – Em - G | D/F# - Em
They say that time's a healer, but I ain't done much healing.
Em - G | D/F# - Em
Hello, can you hear me?
Em – G – Em - G | D/F# - Em
I'm in California dreaming about who we used to be
Em - G | D/F# - Em
When we were younger and we were free.
Em – G – Em - G | D/F# - Em
I've forgotten how it felt before the world fell at our feet.

Chorus:
Am C D/F# G Am C D/F# G
Hello from the other side, I must've called a thousand times
Am C D/F# G Am C D/F# G
To tell you I'm sorry, for everything that I've done
Am C D/F# G Am C D/F#(hold)
But when I call you never seem, you never seem to be home.

Em - G | D/F# - Em
Hello, how are you?
Em – G – Em - G | D/F# - Em
It's so typical of me to talk about myself.
Em - G | D/F# - Em
And I'm sorry, I hope that you're well
Em – G – Em - G | D/F# - Em
Did you ever make it out of that town where nothing ever happened?

Bridge:
G
There's such a difference between us
Em D/F# C
and a million miles.
G
It's no secret that the both of us
Em D/F# C
are running out of time. x2

Chorus:
Am C D/F# G Am C D/F# G
Hello from the other side, I must have tried a thousand times
Am C D/F# G Am C D/F# G
To tell you I'm sorry, for breaking your heart
Am C D/F# G Am C D/F#(hold)
It does not matter, and it clearly doesn’t tear you apart, anymore

Outro:
Em - G | D/F# - Em | Em – G – Em - G | D/F# - Em x2
