The Dear Hunter

Biography:

The Dear Hunter is an American progressive rock band originating in Providence, Rhode Island. It began as a side project of Casey Crescenzo when he was a member of The Receiving End of Sirens, before becoming his main band in 2006. The band's sound features a wide variety of instruments and styles.

Most of the band's albums, starting with their 2006 debut album Act I: The Lake South, the River North, are concept albums and a part of a common storyline, planned to conclude with a sixth album.

[Verse 1]
Dm
If one and all who hear my call
E
Could lend their ears to me
Gm
Then you could hear the crooked tale
Dm A
Of how this fire has come to be
Dm E
I must admit that the manipulator's fate was resting at my feet
Gm Bb Dm
But all of his intimidation brought me to my knees when he said

[Chorus]
A/C# Dm C/E F C Gm
"Keep this secret safe, or watch your flock devoured by the flame
Dm Am Bb
Left in my wake; I'll burn through you."

[Instrumental]

[Verse 2]
Dm
There is a vision you have come to know and love
E
(the deft defender with a heart of gold)
Gm
An imitation of a man he left to die

Face down in the mud
Dm A
(such venom coursing through his veins)

Dm
And now the mimic is a cynic who laughs
E
While the house of God is reduced to ash
Gm Bb Dm
Well, I won't let corruption carry on

[Chorus 2]
A/C# Dm C/E
Come out from the dark and claim your life
F C Gm Dm Am
Before you all but fall apart
Bb A/C#
We can keep this wolf far from our flock
Dm C/E F
So raise your voices, torches, rocks
C Gm Dm
And follow me into the night
A
We'll bring this evil to the light

Cause the only truth he ever told
