The Dear Hunter

Biography:

The Dear Hunter is an American progressive rock band originating in Providence, Rhode Island. It began as a side project of Casey Crescenzo when he was a member of The Receiving End of Sirens, before becoming his main band in 2006. The band's sound features a wide variety of instruments and styles.

Most of the band's albums, starting with their 2006 debut album Act I: The Lake South, the River North, are concept albums and a part of a common storyline, planned to conclude with a sixth album.

[Verse 1]

D Em
Son, your father's not all good.
G D Em D
Still, I love you more than I thought I could.
D Em
And when the menace in my mind
G D Em D
Finds me, I simply look to your eyes.

[Chorus]

A7 Em
And boy, someday I hope I do
C A7 D
See the man you will grow into.
A7 Em
And when you heart's in disarray,
G Gm D Em D
Know that your father, too, has made mistakes.

[Hook]

D Em7
Aaaaaaaaaaaah Aaaaaaaaaah (Oooooooh)
D Em7
Aaaaaaaaaaaah Aaaaaaaaaah (Oooooooh)

[Verse 2]

D Em
Son, your father's lost his head.
G D Em D
Still, I mean every word that I've said.
D Em
Though the truth can truly cut
G D Em D
Here in this confessional with my blood.

[Chorus]

A7 Em
And boy, someday I hope I do
C A7 D
See the man you will grow into,
A7 Em
And when you heart's in disarray,
G Gm D Em D
Know that your father too has made .... mistakes.

[Bridge]

Am7
I've been cruel to the ones who have stayed by my side,
D/A#
And foolish enough to believe in my pride,
Em D
But vanity never could keep me from caring for you.
Am7
I've strayed too far away from the trees and the lake;
D/A#
The innocent road that I chose not to take.
Em
But still I can bring you to bathe in the river
A7 D
To wash out the world long before your heart's withered away.

[Hook]

D Em7
Aaaaaaaaaaaah Aaaaaaaaaah (Oooooooh)
D Em7
Aaaaaaaaaaaah Aaaaaaaaaah (Oooooooh)

[Chorus]

A7 Em
And boy, someday I hope I do
C A7 D
See the man you will grow into,
A7 Em
And when you heart's in disarray,
G Gm D Em D
Know that your father too has made ........ he's made mistakes.
