The Classic Crime

We All Look Elsewhere

by The Classic Crime
The Classic Crime

Biography:

The Classic Crime is a Seattle-based alternative rock band. They released their Tooth & Nail debut album, 'Albatross', in 2006. It marked the fastest first-week sales for a new artist in the history of T&N. The band members are Matt MacDonald (vocals), Justin DuQue (guitar), Robert "Cheeze" Negrin (guitar), Alan Clark (bass), and Paul "Skip" Erickson (drums).

While touring in support of their full-length album Albatross, the band created the Acoustic EP: Seattle Sessions, which was simply a compilation of songs they created while on the road.

A great song by The Classic Crime. Here's the original version off their album 'Albatross'. I highly
recommend the version off their revisited album 'What Was Done: Volume 1'.

Intro: Em Em C C x2

Verse 1:
Em
Lost sense (Of) direction , nobody knows my name,
C Am
Confidence, correction don’t know how to play that game
Em
Straight line is quicker. Straight line would make me fast
C Am
I’ve burned my nose enough to know straight lines never last

Pre-Chorus:
Em Em C C Em Em C C
Swallow your soul. drink from this life. As you choke on your pride

Chorus 1:
Em C
We all look elsewhere x2

Verse 2:
Em
It’s safer inside doors, nobody has to flee
C Am
Broken vessel passed the rocks and out to sea
Em
Waiting, wanting mad with purpose
C Am
Now we come to talk to one who knows the answer to how

Pre-Chorus:
Em Em C C Em Em C C
Swallow your soul. drink from this life. As you choke on your pride

Chorus 2:
D Em G D C Em D
Don’t waste your time if you’ve got it, the tides are turning now, you are not alone
C Em G D C Em D
They gave you their worst and you bought it. The lie has been exposed. You are not alone

Bridge:
Em
Winter that comes quick in early September
D
The rain clouds that washed me are what I remember
C
The stones that I threw piled high like a mountain
Am D
Which I had to climb before I reached the fountain
Em D Bm C
If life is a riddle then riddle me this: the blood tasted sweet as it passed by my lips

C Em D D C Em D D C Em D D C Em D
Don’t, don’t waste your time , Don’t, don’t waste your time. Don’t waste your time

Chorus 2:
D Em G D C Em D
Don’t waste your time if you’ve got it, the tides are turning now, you are not alone (Liar! Liar!)
C Em G D C Em D
They gave you their worst and you bought it. The lie has been exposed. You are not alone.

Outro:
Em Em Em Em
