Capo 1

[Verse 1]

Well I wandered way back in the mountains

I found the spot where the blue waters flows

They call it the medicine springs
E B7 E
They call it the medicine springs

[Verse 2]

I dremaed I saw a fair lady

Yellow hair and big eyes of blue
E A E
She told me one day she loved only me

That she would forever be true
E B7 E
That she would forever be true

[Verse 3]
E
Well I wanted the best for my darlin'
A E
But my pockets were empty and bare
E A E
I wanted the best for that darlin' of mine
E A
I took what another man had
E B7 E
I took what another man had

[Verse 4]
E
As I sit here alone in this jail house
E A E
With a letter I can't hardly read

It said that my darlin' has left this ol' world

She's a waitin' in heaven for me
E B7 E
She's a waitin' in heaven for me

[Verse 5]
E
Some day I'll go back to the mountains
E A E
Where I'll spend the rest of my days
E A E
And the water that runs frome the side of the hill
E A E
Will water her flowery grave
E B7 E
Will water her flowery grave
