Mount Eerie

You Swan Go On

by Mount Eerie
Mount Eerie

Biography:

Mount Eerie represents the latest evolution of Phil Elverum's musical vision. Formerly known as The Microphones, Phil changed his project's name to Mount Eerie while maintaining his subtle, lo-fi, and lyrically dense fuzz-folk aesthetic.

Elverum explained this change in an 2003 interview with Discorder, asserting that "Mount Eerie is a new project. The Microphones was completed, or at least at a good stopping point. I did it because I am ready for new things. I am new."

This is a very simple and beautiful song. Listen to the track to get the picking
rhythm and just remember to accentuate the bass line.- Scott Melendez

Intro: C

C Em Am G F
As good as I could possibly imagine my life getting, it did

Em
After I met you
F G
The way you reached inside my chest and pulled out things and sent them off
Am
in breaths blew
C Em Am G F
And as good as it got with all the layers peeling off, and though I writhed
Em
I could not upset you
F G
With your hand down my throat you held on to my heart and pumped blood
Am
through

C Em Am G F
And then “it’s time to go” you said, “it’s time to go out
Em
You little gray goose
F G Am
Get out from under my wing” you said “go on you swan you turn loose”

C Em
Oh so “it’s over”
Am G
Oh so “we died
F Em F G Am
Oh so “your hand on my heart pumping blood went limp” and oh, I fly
G
Oh swan inside.

Outro: C, Em, Am, G, F
