Mount Eerie

Youth

by Mount Eerie
Mount Eerie

Biography:

Mount Eerie represents the latest evolution of Phil Elverum's musical vision. Formerly known as The Microphones, Phil changed his project's name to Mount Eerie while maintaining his subtle, lo-fi, and lyrically dense fuzz-folk aesthetic.

Elverum explained this change in an 2003 interview with Discorder, asserting that "Mount Eerie is a new project. The Microphones was completed, or at least at a good stopping point. I did it because I am ready for new things. I am new."

Four years of hard work!

This month of May we celebrated four years on the air. We continue working on the dissemination of this wonderful instrument, thank you for participating in our story!

This is how I play the song! It's pretty simplified because, especially in the beginning, there are lots
of different layers. I'll try to figure out the guitar fills but i'm not very good at that stuff.
Suggestions and corrections welcome!

(For the intro and middle part, I think it sounds fine to not play the Em and D before Bm also)

C Em
I look through the big windows at the airport again
C
Far from home in 2014, disconnected and young
Em
In my bag, a book of zen poems that I read and re-read
C
They all say: “Don’t worry

Dreamed dust ?is always blowing

All this is a veil”

C Em
The veil of youth is lifting in me constantly (Hm, hm)
(1) C Em
Far from home again while everything is born by my eye (Hm, hm-hm)
(1) C Em
Only now and this airport window and whatever I see (Hm, hm)
(1) C
The dissolving youth of things is shown as emptiness
Em
Dressed up as spring (Hm, hm-hm)

G Am
All million colors and everyone I’ve known
D
Passing through a mind and it’s this same mind
C
That was born

Em
Wild and empty, wailing in electric lights since birth (Hm, hm)
(1) C Em
Far from home at last, and I’m still trying to let the spring emerge
(1) C
From beneath every thought unknown and vast (Hm)
Em
But my youth and self assurance fill the sky
C
“There’s no moon,” my young mind thinks
Em
“In a totally black night sky”
C
But there is a moon
