Mount Eerie

Toothbrushtrash

by Mount Eerie
Mount Eerie

Biography:

Mount Eerie represents the latest evolution of Phil Elverum's musical vision. Formerly known as The Microphones, Phil changed his project's name to Mount Eerie while maintaining his subtle, lo-fi, and lyrically dense fuzz-folk aesthetic.

Elverum explained this change in an 2003 interview with Discorder, asserting that "Mount Eerie is a new project. The Microphones was completed, or at least at a good stopping point. I did it because I am ready for new things. I am new."

Honestly, this is the most beautiful song on Earth.
Standard tuning, no capo, tissues for the tears.

Am G F x2

Am G F
Today I just felt it for the first time
Am G F
Three months and one day after you died
C G
I realized that these photographs we have of you
Am G F Am G F
Are slowly replacing the subtle familiar
C G Am G F
Memory of what it's like to know you're in the other room
Am G F
To hear you singing on the stairs
Am G F
A movement, a pine cone, your squeaking chair
C G F
The quiet untreasured
Am G F
In between times
Am G F C G
The actual experience of you here
Am G F
I can feel these memories escaping
Am G F Am G F
Colonized by photos narrowed down and told my mind erasing
Am G F
The echo of you in the house dies down

~pretty piano comes in~

C Em
October wind blows
Am G
It makes a door close
Am G F
I look over my shoulder to make sure
C G
But there is nobody here
Am G F
I finally took out the upstairs bathroom garbage
Am G F
that was sitting there forgotten since you were here
C G
Wanting just to stay with us
F
Just to stay living
C G
I threw it away
Am G F
Your dried out, bloody, end-of-life tissues
Am G F
Your toothbrush and your trash
C G F
And the fly buzzing around the room
C G F
Could that possibly be you too?
C G F G
I let it go out the window
Am G F
It does not feel good
