Mischief Brew

The Drunk Of Three Nights

by Mischief Brew
Mischief Brew

Biography:

Mischief Brew was an anarchist folk-punk band. A wicked concoction by Erik Petersen – a musical feast falling somewhere between the categories of pirate punk, Celtic folk, gypsy swing, devilish jazz, American olde-tyme and country. It’s good music to stomp, kick, pogo, jitterbug, waltz, drink, twist and shout to – whether the performance is solo acoustic or with a backing band of accordion, drums, and mandolin.

Erik started making music at a young age

[Verse 1]
Gm
All that’s between us and the sky
Dm Gm Dm
Fogged glass and dusty blinds
Gm Dm
So I scrawled your name then mine
Cm Gm Dm
Just to see them side by side
Gm Dm
Your boss is pullin’ out his hair
Gm Dm
If he only knew why you’re not there
Gm Dm Cm Gm
Bells and hammers break the waking day
Dm D# Dm Cm
As sobriety carries its chains

[Chorus]

Cm A#
And you look into my eyes
Dm Gm
And say you’re through with that disguise
Cm Gm Dm
As it’s strewn beside your bed
Dm Gm
You vow to never pull it on again
Cm
I thought I’d be a hermit forever
Dm Cm Dm
Can it still be so as long as we are together?

[Verse 2]
Gm
You’re like fire to pine
Dm Gm Dm
All the worlds behind those eyes
Gm Dm
As clocks quake and crumble into piles
Cm A# A
Think we’re the only ones left alive
Gm Dm
All rules seem strange and false
Gm Dm
Each hour gone, out there seems more wrong
Gm Dm
I’m afraid we’ve been inside for days
Cm A# Dm Dm C A#
And I fear sobriety awaits

[Chorus]

Cm A# Dm Gm
As I look into your eyes, I wonder when we last dined
Cm Gm
All engagements we never made
Dm
Just threw them away with one embrace
Cm A# Dm
All these rules that somehow passed
Gm Cm
Are but cracks in the window glass
Gm Dm
A kiss set off the drunk of three nights
Dm
So savor these firework shards while they fly
Gm
All these firework shards while they fly

Cm
I thought I’d be a hermit forever
Dm Cm Dm
Can it still be so as long as we are together?
Gm Cm
I thought I’d be a hermit forever
Dm Cm
Can it still be so as long as we are together?
