Mischief Brew

A Peasants Rebellion

by Mischief Brew
Mischief Brew

Biography:

Mischief Brew was an anarchist folk-punk band. A wicked concoction by Erik Petersen – a musical feast falling somewhere between the categories of pirate punk, Celtic folk, gypsy swing, devilish jazz, American olde-tyme and country. It’s good music to stomp, kick, pogo, jitterbug, waltz, drink, twist and shout to – whether the performance is solo acoustic or with a backing band of accordion, drums, and mandolin.

Erik started making music at a young age

[Verse 1]

G Am
Run child, run away
C C
Come around no other day
G Am C C
Roll a bed or snap a case
G Am
Run child, run away
C C
Spark it up around the waste
G Am C C
And drink until you dehydrate
G Am
And old world is behind you
C C
Another one awaits
G Am
And every town is different
C C
But it all turns out the same
G Am
So run child, run away
C C
Find the lost and found, and trade
G Am
Dye your hair, shave your face
C C
And rearrange your name display

[Chorus]

G D Am C Em D
And now you're wide awake to start again
C D Em D
A day before you find your new best friend
C D C
All day, you're playing House, War, and Pretend

G Am C C

[Verse 2]

G Am
Run friend, from the sea
C C
Walk on further up the beach
G Am C C
Hope to find somebody's keys
G Am
Run friend, from the sea
C C
Say that all this cannot be
G Am C C
Better dig a hole, and dig it deep
G Am
You say this is your home now
C C
It's only been a week
G Am
But you swear you'll fight with all your might
C C
To save it 'til you're beat
G Am
Then grab a train or hop a bus
C C
I'll betcha there's a ride to bum
G Am
And set up camp beside the bay
C C
Another thousand miles away

[Chorus]

G D Am C Em D
But there's just as much misery afar
C D Em D
And you're still the same old burning star
C D C C
And still you turn away, but there you are

[Outro]

G C G C
When you wake up in the morning
G C D C
And the state don't seem the same
G C G C
You're a bomb without a warning
G C D C
You're the singing in the rain
G C G C G
When you wake up in the morning (when you wake up in the morning)
C D C
To a bad world full of dreams
G C G C
You're a bomb and you're the warning
G C D C D
And I'll be seeing you downstream

C D
La da da da La da da da
C D
La da da da La da da da
