Mike Doughty

Biography:

Mike Doughty (born June 10, 1970, in Fort Knox, Kentucky) is an American indie and alternative rock singer-songwriter and author. The former frontman of Soul Coughing from 1992, Doughty began writing solo songs in 1995, but nothing materialized until Soul Coughing broke up in 2000. At this point Doughty began touring solo with his acoustic guitar (after becoming clean and sober). His album Skittish (recorded 1996; released 2000) was finally released, along with the EP Rockity Roll.

ST LOUISE IS LISTENING – Mike Doughty
FYI the Soul Coughing version is about 4 steps higher...

Cm Eb Bb F
I stopped the thought before it’s drip became insistent
I rubbed it out and loved the spot where it were missing
She’s widely known the only maquereau that pays her taxes
I got to box her for the money, said it might end
Reeling and stumbling, I’ve got to bump around a while

You don’t use words like that, St. Louise is listening
You don’t use words like that, St. Louise is listening

You rang the Eskimo to meet you at the station
Oh, he’s like milk to you half Swedish and half Asian
And your aphasia strikes a bargain with the barter yard
You got to box him for the money, said it might end
Reeling and stumbling, I’ve got to bump around a while

You don’t use words like that, St. Louise is listening
You don’t use words like that, St. Louise is listening

Let me get up on it, let me get up on it, let me, let me
Let me get up on it, let me get up on it
Let me get up on it, let me get up on it, let me, let me
Let me get up on it, let me get up on it

I could be your baby doll, I could be your doll baby
I could be the things you want, I could do it all for you
I could be your baby doll, I could be your doll baby
I could be the things you want, I could do it all for you

You don’t use words like that, St. Louise is listening
You don’t use words like that, St. Louise is listening

Let me get up on it, let me get up on it, let me, let me
Let me get up on it, let me get up on it
Let me get up on it, let me get up on it, let me, let me
Let me get up on it, let me get up on it
Let me get up on it, let me get up on it, let me, let me
Let me get up on it, let me get up on it
Let me get up on it, let me get up on it, let me, let me
