Mike Doughty

Biography:

Mike Doughty (born June 10, 1970, in Fort Knox, Kentucky) is an American indie and alternative rock singer-songwriter and author. The former frontman of Soul Coughing from 1992, Doughty began writing solo songs in 1995, but nothing materialized until Soul Coughing broke up in 2000. At this point Doughty began touring solo with his acoustic guitar (after becoming clean and sober). His album Skittish (recorded 1996; released 2000) was finally released, along with the EP Rockity Roll.

D G D
Oh Nectarine, will you love me right again?
A
Want to blank you, want to ease you from my mind
D G D
Want to see you, want to hurt you so bad, and
G D A
Want to love you senseless, leave you there in bed
D
Oh Nectarine, come love me right again

(Same chords)
On that night, I saw your picture traced in stars
Through the branches, I saw the meteors
Are you weary? Lay you down and get some rest
Lose the dress and wear the boots instead
Oh Nectarine, come love me right again

F#m D
And her hands went numb
F#m D
I tried to hang on
A B F#m D
But sweetness swept through all my senses

F#m D
All those days and nights
F#m D
Sharpened appetites
A B F#m D
And future, past and perfect tenses

(Back to beginning chords)
I'm a brass man
You could bust me with one swing
It's not you, friend
It's a stranger in your brain
Rents a room, and
Comes to stay and don't know when
Breaks the dishes and the whole kitchen
Poor Nectarine, come be yourself again

Oh Nectarine
Will you love me right again?
Want to blank you
Want to ease you from my mind
Want to see you
Want to hurt you so bad, and
Want to love you senseless
Leave you there in bed
Oh Nectarine, come love me right again
