Michael Hurley

Biography:

Michael Hurley is an American singer/guitarist, reportedly born December 20, 1941. He also plays the fiddle.

Hurley's debut album, First Songs, was recorded for Folkways Records in 1965 on the same reel-to-reel machine that taped Leadbelly's Last Sessions. He was "discovered" by blues and jazz historian Frederick Ramsey III, and subsequently championed by boyhood friend Jesse Colin Young, who released his 2nd & 3rd albums on The Youngbloods' Warner Bros.

Ghost Woman Blues ~ Michael Hurley
from "Fatboy Spring"

intro: G

D G C G
on my way home by that lonesome graveyard
D G C G
on my way home by that lonesome graveyard
Em D C G
voice pops up, said, come here, won't ya be my man

was no ghost at all, someone asking for a ride
no ghost at all, someone asking for a home
said, boy, come here, take me to your home

now, that young ghost woman, well, she keeps me fed
that young ghost woman, well, she keeps me fed
take all the money i get from the l&n

i ain't no lamp, but my wick is burnin' low
i ain't no lamp, but my wick is burnin' low
trim my wick before it drags to the floor

on my way home by that lonesome graveyard
on my way home by that lonesome graveyard
ghost pops up, says, come here, won't ya be my man
